If you’re picking up a bib for someone else, please have an email or text from them granting permission.
If you registered before April 1, you’ll receive your free event t-shirt when you collect your bib. Unclaimed t-shirts by 8 am on race day will be considered donated back to the event and made available for purchase at the expo by donation. If you cannot attend but want to collect your shirt, please email huronshorerun@gmail.com by May 29 to make arrangements.
Gear Check
Gear check is available at the Coliseum during bib pick-up hours Friday evening and Saturday morning. All items must be placed in a small bag or backpack—no loose items. Detach the tear-off tag at the bottom of your race bib and attach it securely to the outside of your bag near the top.
Parking & Getting to the Start Line
High Street will be under construction during race weekend. There will be no parking on High Street from Victoria Street down to Lake Huron. We recommend parking in the designated lots—see the map for parking zones. Allow extra time for walking to the start line.
The course will be closed to all traffic while runners are on the route. Rolling closures will be implemented, so areas may already be barricaded as you’re driving into town. Please plan your route accordingly to avoid closed roads. Visit the Road Closures page for more information.
NOTE: Construction is also happening in downtown Port Elgin. Please give yourself plenty of time getting to the event.
Free bike valet is available at the Southampton Coliseum on Friday from 4:30 - 7:30 pm and Saturday from 6:30 am - 12 pm. Enter through the NE corner of the building by the Boathouse. Save on parking time, get a warm-up, and support the environment!
Aid Stations
There are 4 aid stations located on the course, providing water and Skratch Lemon-Lime hydration, and Hammer Nutrition energy gels.
Locations:
#1: 2.2 km / 19.9 km (hydration only)
#2: 4.6 km / 17.5 km (hydration + gels)
#3: 5.7 km / 15.2 km (hydration + gels)
#4: 7.5 km / 11.9 km (hydration + gels)
At the finish line, you’ll find water, bananas, and granola bars to refuel. The Quench Buggy mobile water station will be located at the Start/Finish line—bring your water bottle to fill up before or after your run.
Visit the 5K, 10K, and 21.1K pages for more details and course maps.
Course Support
Portable restrooms are available near the Start/Finish Line (Legion parking lot behind Walker House), and along Mirimachi Bay Rd near Collard Way. Restroom buildings at the south end of North Shore Park and Concession 10 will be open.
A First Aid & Rest Station is located on Mirimachi Bay Rd at Pegusas Trail. It will be staffed by the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation with a paramedic on site. Runners can take a break to sit and regroup, get medical attention, and receive extra encouragement to keep going.
The Saugeen Shores Fire Department and the Grey Bruce Amateur Radio Club will be present along the course, along with First Aid/CPR-trained volunteers on e-bikes provided by our sponsor, Martin’s Bicycle Shop, to support runners in need of assistance. A paramedic will be present at the First Aid/Rest Station, and a medical doctor will be available at the finish line.
Course Etiquette
We’re thrilled to welcome over 1000 participants and volunteers to this year’s event! Help us create a supportive and enjoyable experience by following these tips:
Line up by pace: Faster runners at the front, slower runners/walkers towards the back.
Pass on the left: Indicate verbally when passing—encourage your fellow runners!
Keep aid stations moving: Grab water, thank volunteers, and keep moving.
Walkers, stay right: This keeps the path clear for faster runners.
Be aware of bike marshals: Lead runners will be escorted by bike marshals. Please be mindful of their presence and follow any instructions to move safely out of the way.
Running with strollers: If you’re running with a stroller, please start near the back to allow for safe passing.
Support one another: A high-five or kind words of encouragement go a long way!
Kids Events
Registration for the free Kids Fun Run will be open Friday evening during bib pick-up and Saturday morning until 9 am at the Coliseum. The run starts at 10 am at the main Start/Finish line. Kids can choose to run either the 600 m or 1 km route. They can decide when they get to the start and will be lined up accordingly by race officials.
The Kids Fun Zone, sponsored by the Town of Saugeen Shores, will be held on the Curling Club side of the Coliseum, featuring games and activities to keep kids active following their run.
Post-Race Party
All participants are encouraged to head up to the Coliseum after they finish. The expo will be open, featuring local sponsors, with a DJ, and complimentary food for all participants, provided by sponsors West Coast Catering and the Walker House (gluten-free and vegetarian options available).
Spectators and guests will be able to purchase food. Cash only.
